Blossom In The Storm

...Ok, Sir Bobby of Chiu has gotten the better of me, and I've decided to post what I have so far. This was just one idea I had, and although I'm very fond of the character, there's definitely something lacking....and so, it's to decide whether I keep working this piece with the girl, or scrap this idea and go for something else...I kinda like Boris's cheese idea to tell the truth, or at least something a little surreal. I'll be thinking...in the meantime thou, I hope you like this one so far. Work has ramped up so what time I can paint, I am :) ...Thanks to Bobby for the kick up the arse ;) ...

The pallete for the girl is great!

To be completely honest though, I think the character takes away from your original piece.

The original drew you into the scene...I almost wanted to walk down that pier...but very cautiously. There was a great mystery of who lived there at the end of the pier. It was scary and intriguing all together. The character totally took all of that away. I'm no longer experiencing it,...now I'm just a viewer.

...none-the-less, it's your vision, and in the end it is still masterful draftsmanship.

Keep up the great work.

I like so much this pic , ..Mark , i think that the colour is very nice , i like the enviroment , the clouds , the see , and the bridge , but i have only one discrepancy, the character is too ...i don´t know how to say it, is like the rubber...and the red light reflection on the bridge is very strong....CONGRATULATIONS MAN!!

Heh, cool...thanks everyone...and nice to see a bit of critique up there too. Yes I can see what you mean about the rubbery plastic feel...it probably comes down to the skin wet from the rain and her facial proportions...but hey, all valid stuff...

Hope you all come back soon for more! I'm a little busy at the moment so the next few posts won't be as polished as this one, but there'll be a few bits going up soon :)
